And so begins a new chapter in American history.
Whether your candidate won or lost, there is no denying that things are about to change. Karmically this is where we are and that’s the reality. I believe we can always live a good life, contribute to the well-being of the planet and her inhabitants, and still make a difference based on our own values and passions.
Life is a great play and we all have our own characters to play. Play the part well, and have fun!
If you’re not sure where this election leaves you, here are some options to move forward, help the planet, and play your best character.
-> Go on a news fast. Instead, fill your soul with fine literature, brilliant music, knowledge and history.
-> Support non-profits like ACLU, Utah Physicians for Healthy Environment and similar groups, Doctors Without Borders, animal rescue, nature preservation, women’s health and support and DEI/equity.
-> Get involved in local politics. Even if it’s just attending a city council meeting to listen in on the conversation. Volunteer. Maybe even run for something!
-> Get off the computer and get to know your community. Make new friends from all backgrounds. Go out for coffee or treats with them on a regular basis.
-> Maintain your health. Cook at home, eating whole foods. Get plenty of exercise.
-> Get out into nature. Garden. Talk to plants and animals. Take your dog to training classes.
-> Start a daily meditation or other yoga practices to sharpen your mind. Stay focused.
-> Work hard and save money. Minimize buying new things and opt for recycled and used items.
-> Learn something new. Take a class.
-> Have a relationship with something greater than yourself. Talk or pray often.
-> Get creative. Draw/paint, play piano, tell stories. Make jewelry. Express yourself.
-> Read. Find your local book store.
-> Journal or write. Create love letters, poetry, stories, opinion pieces.
-> Clean out your personal spaces…home, office, car, etc. Reduce as many attachments as you can bear.
-> Speak your truth. Be authentic. But more than anything, be kind.
And mostly, be grateful. For life. Everything is divine and perfect and the light will shine. Anything is possible. I’m excited to share the next four years with you!
